Music Monday Video

Why The New Taylor Swift Is Literally A Work Of Art!

The other week, Taylor Swift released long-awaited new music and everyone went crazy. I’m going to be completely honest with you – at first when I heard Look What You Made Me Do I was like “meh. Another Taylor Swift song. Oh it’s apparently about Kanye? And Katy? Pssh. Grow up.” I didn’t give it on it though! Then about a week ago, the music video debuted during the MTV Music Video awards.

Here’s a little secret: I’m a huge sucker for a good music video. I grew up in the 90s, where I would religiously watch the MuchMusic countdown every Friday night, tape it, and then re-watch all the music videos. I truly believe in music videos, and while they aren’t always necessary, if done properly, truly can complete a song. That’s exactly what happened with LWYMMD.

If you haven’t picked up on all the “easter eggs” in the video, I blogged about it the other week at Z1035.com. Sheer brilliance. Although the song sounds “basic,” the thought that went behind not only the lyrics and the video? Like – how do you come back from that? Although “juvenile” as some are calling it, Swift literally has dropped the mic, in my own opinion.

Love it or hate it, Billboard said the sound could top 400,000 downloads – setting a new record for the best sales week of 2017. That record is currently held by Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” from back in January. Also, it could top the streaming songs chart too and even possibly surpass the record for one-week streams by a woman (that is currently held by Adele who sent it back in 2015 with Hello that had 61.6 million streams in it’s first week. I can only imagine what kind of damage her upcoming album, Reputation, will do.

All in all – I’m excited about this new Taylor Swift (since the other one is dead) and I’m interested to see what other singles will come off of Reputation.

What did you think about the video? Comment and let me know.

xo, Amanda
